Hands down the best university in Australia is the University of Melbourne. I received my MA in Applied Linguistics there.

The university is ranked in the top 20 in the world and is definitely in the top ten for linguistics and applied linguistics.

The fees for international students are very low. I completed my MA two years ago and the total cost of tuition was about $16,000.

Contact me if you want more information about the program.

I actually just got on to check an answer for my question because i am interested in study abroad in Australia- I looked up some of there "linguistically"- if you will- areas and it looks like any place in New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, & Northern Territory States should have either 1. culturally diverse linguistics and 2. schools that should have those programs implemented- The school I'm looking forward to attend is in Melbourne- try looking there also. Other programs are: ISA abroad, CIEE, IES Abroad, and Cross Cultural Solutions (this is more like independant volunteer/research)
