Hello,

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., is a non-hazing, non-pledging organization. If you attend our rush and submit an application for membership you will have to sign a Hazing Policy Form. This forms states that you are aware of this fact and that you will abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the National Office.

I am positive that the same is true of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. as well...the exact procedure may not be the same but the idea is.

Also, you can go on each sorority's national website and get further information on the policy. Those websites are as follows:

www.aka1908.com and www.deltasigmatheta.org

Now, of course as in any organization, there are those who do not adhere to that policy 100%, but it is NOT a sanctioned (approved) activity in regard to the rules set forth by our Directorate.

I think it's great that you got into a sorority. It all seems pointless(hazing, that is) to me because once you're a member of a fraternity or a sorority, then chances are the only thing you should do is just take the oath. However, I'm no authority on this since I'm not in one because I didn't attend a university where I had the opportunity to join one. I went to a 2 year college instead where the only fraternity/sorority that they had was one where you had to have a high grade point average and were an honor student there. I never really saw the point in joining one anyhow, mainly because I'm too cool for one.

Of coarse hazing is a very general term! It can be physical, mental or just plain mean!

Yes, many do. It is childish behavior but it makes them feel more important and special I think.

Not that they will ever admit. It's against almost every schools policy.

Yes, but there are laws against it now, so they have toned it down.
