I take Feminax (not sure if that's only available in the UK), it's a paracetamol and codeine based painkiller with some caffeine in it too. I find this helps, plus putting a hot water bottle over the area that's cramping.
I used to get cramps really badly but I've noticed that since I've gone on the pill they are a lot less severe.

Advil, a heating pad, and -- believe it or not -- lying down and putting a pillow between your knees. Make sure to eat a little something with the Advil, though, so the ibuprofen doesn't upset your stomach.

You're going to think this is weird but, I used to have a gf whose cramps were so bad she had to go to the doctor, and when nothing else seemed to work, her doctor suggested she try masturbating, because the contractions caused by an orgasm help ease the muscles so they're not clenching so bad. She said it really helped, but didn't get rid of them completely. Take midol, drink lots of water, and get plenty of excercise aswell.

Try excedrin, or drink something with alot of caffeine (if you don't want to worry about falling asleep-but with af, I am usually tired so the extra caffeine doesn't bother me). Also try a heating pad
