Yes. Aphex Twin is exactly like Dutch droopies (salt candies) Korean ddokk (sticky rice cakes), marmite and Christmas fruitcake.

All are acquired tastes, all are polarising -- you love'em or you hate'em, and the ones who love'em can't explain what's so great about it to others, while the ones who hate'em hate'em with almost as much enthusiasm as those who love'em. (Though the ones who love'em just claim everybody else "doesn't get it".)

Except this: not many electronica artists claim marmite as a major influence, and only old people buy tickets to fruitcake shows.

I've never heard of Marmite, but Aphex Twin was originally Polygon Window which had a techno-pop sound.

Yes, pretty much, although there is a small group in the middle who like the ambient works but get intimidated by the "come... on... you... SLAGS!" stuff.

I get men drooling over my avatar pretty regularly, until I ask them if they're into ladyboys, then they get nauseous. That out-marmites marmite right? One woman stalked me once to write "Change your avatar you stupid women" on all my questions, in the end I stalked her back, and explained that 1. the point is to take the p1ss out of r'n'b misogyny 2. at least I can spell "woman".
