American History X is defenitely one of my own personal 'knock-my-socks-off' type films... Especially the curbshot scene and the ending.
Saw... It was classic, i never expected him to just get up off the floor like that. It blew me away.
The Matrix was defenitely a wicked film. I don't think there's anything quite like it.
Now this one will sound crazy-stupid but 9 1/2 Weeks. There was something so intense in it. It was in Mickey Rourke's smile, the way Kim Basinger only wore black and grey around him, their intense passion, the alleyway scene, and the ending words of Mickey Rourke. It just got to me.
And i almost forgot to mention The Shawshank Redemption. I loved every minute of that film. The opera music blaring from the speakers to the posters of scantily clad women on the jail cell wall. It blew me away.

V for Vendetta. I absolutely love that movie. I think it's well written and the concept is incredibly powerful and important.
It is scary - but in a good way b/c it shows that people are strong and can do anything, like correct a corrupt and fascist government.
The first movie that ever left a lasting impression was The Fifth Element when I was 12. The flying cars got me completely hooked on sci-fi, even if The Fifth Element isn't a sci-fi masterpiece itself. I couldn't get the movie out of my head for days - I wanted a flying car immediately, if not sooner and I wanted to visit a distant galaxy and listen to a blue alien sing opera.
Thank You for Smoking is also a great movie that I saw recently; full of witty, sarcastic humor. Love it.

I think all of the Harry Potter movies fall into that catagory. Of course I love the books too and can't wait for each new book and movie to come out. I liked When Harry Met Sally, Valley Girl and The Usual Suspects.

Hm, there are only 3 movies so far that knocked my socks off.
The first one was "Sybil", a TV-film shown in the 70s, now available on DVD.
The second one was "One flew over the Cuckoos' nest", also from the 70s.
The third one was "Ordinairy people", from the 80s.
And then there's a movie that I like very much, it's "Sixth Sense", with Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment.

The entire "Lord of the Rings" trilogy was amazing, but "The Return of the King", in my opinion, was the best of them all. The special effects, including all the monsters, were like nothing I've ever seen. The battle scenes were incredible with Surround Sound.

This past weekend, my husband and I went to see The Departed. It was awesome. I was really suprised to find that the movie theatre was packed for a movie that had been out for 3 weeks. Tons of twists and turns, and it was actulaly kinda disturbing. I recommend it to everyone.

It wasn't the last one that "knocked my socks off", but the first that came to mind was American History X. This was one of few movies that really hit me when I watched it. Mind you, that was years ago now, and I'm sure there have been plenty more since then...but this was the first to come to mind.

Last week, a documentary in selected locations...I would have been put off on that alone...
The movie was John Lennon Vs. The US, I loved it.
A man's life, a man's standing, and finally his tragic murder.
He fights for peace, love, and harmony. He always made his point clear.
