None -if your child is constipated and you want to use juice go with apple juice. You can use the regular apple juice diluted 1 ounce to 3 ounce of water or buy the baby apple juice that is already diluted and ready to use.

Don't give a three week old baby prune juice, diluted or not it is much to irritating and rough on their little systems. If you have a formula fed baby, they may not always have a dirty diaper every day. If you really feel you must give something, stick with the tried and true teaspoon of Dark Karo syrup in 8 oz water. Before you do anything, though, you need to speak with the baby's pediatrician. There are other things to condider, and the doctor needs to know if you are having troubles with a baby this young.

If your child is having troubles with their bowel movements, first and foremost, speak with the child's doctor. There could be some serious problems underlying a constipated baby.

Everyone has their own opinions and what could work for one child may not work for another. I have tried Karo Syrup, I have tried extra bottles of water, juice... prune juice did (and was the only thing that did) work for my little one. However, I did not use it until he was 2 or 3 months old and I would only give him 1 to 3 ounces.

Good luck.

Prune juice has the well-known laxative effect on adults, let alone on babies. In children, the effects are much exacerbated. Please consult with your doctor before you make any changes to your baby's diet; you could cause the child to become malnourished by creating a scenario of having its output exceed its input, which is very bad for a baby. This would be along with the loss of vital nutrients through excessive bowel movements. I have worked in health care for 12 years; I have been responsible for more patients than I can think of, so I know whereof I speak.

Why would you want to give your baby prune juice?!? Prune juice is not good it could give him/her diahrea which in turn could cause dehyrdation. My brother and sister-in-law give my nephew (who is a baby and is 8 months old) they give him apple juice! At 3 weeks old though your baby should only be drinking baby milk or breast milk no juices or anything else until your baby is a few months older!

You definitely need to get the baby checked out as any fruit juice is out of the question for an infant. You may find out that his rectum needs to be dilated every day with Vaseline, etc...many possibilities....go to pediatrician asap

I don't know who told you to do this. I'd be very afraid. I'd talk to the doctor. I know an older lady who was prepping for a lower G.I. and very soon after the doctors, thought she had a stroke. I'd be very afraid this would cause the baby to loose much needed nutrients. Please talk to the doctor. This just scares me. Our electrolytes can be lost with diarrhea, not to mention a baby.
