Get a new mechanic. The computer tells what the light is on for... your mechanic doesnt know what he's doing.

Have your mechanic to check the system for an open circuit. Next, have your computer reset. Most cars today come with a time/mileage service interval. This works with the amount of miles a car is driven, and once the preset mileage has been reached, a light will come on letting you know that it is time for service. A proper service tech will know to reset the computer once the service has been completed.
