The same thing happened with my son when he was that age. Nothing was ever said about his rectum being to tight...never heard of such a thing. But he's very young right now and his body is getting used to digesting and passing bowel movements. It will eventually get better. It's something you just have to wait out. If 2 months goes by though and he still is having a really difficult time going or he doesn't go for more than 5 days, ask the doctor to look into it.

His rectum is too tight???!!!! I don't understand why the doc would say that. And he's not constipated either??? Go see another doc!!!!!! In the mean time give the baby a little bit of water. Babies should poop regularly so there is certainly a problem and you need to see a doctor that can give you an explanation.

A little water daily will help (I know the doc will tell you your baby doesn't need water.......bull hockey). Also a teaspoon or so of dark karo syrup in one of his bottles a day will help. If you have to you can give him a smidgeon more but not much more because it can have the opposite effect. I used this on all 4 of my kids and it does work.

See another doctor and leave that crackhead alone. He should at least gave you something to give the child. Or recommended a few household remedies. I would suggest pedialyte. Also I suggest that you see a new doctor pronto.

A too-tight rectum is not uncommon in babies - but if this was the case the doctor should have referred him for surgery right away!

Dilute some apple juice in water, like 2oz of juice to 3-4 of water, thats what I did to get my daughter to poop regularly.

When my infant son was constipated a nurse told me to give him a tsp. of cornsyrup. It seemed to help.

I know this sounds kind of gross but if you take his temp (rectally) and use Vaseline than it may help loosen whats going on.

Ask the doctor. He/She should have told you how to remedy the situation.
