I'm just really curious because from what I've read, the origins and reason for Halloween don't really have anything to do with fantasy or dressing up.

Just curious.

I mean like how did the tradition of dressing up in costumes originate? And why?

I already know it's a whole lotta fun. You don't need to tell me that.

there's a specific reason we dress up for Halloween. its part of a Wicca tradition. on Halloween the "other world" or place where ghosts and spirits, goblins, etc come from is able to come over to our world. we dress up and roam the streets to confuse the bad goblins and ghosts so they don't follow us home. if you don't dress up while your out you may bring home a bad ghost into your home and no one wants that.

I don't remember where I read this but I read that it was believed that evil spirits came out on Halloween. People wore costumes so the evil spirits wouldn't recognize them.
