How is this a challenge? Tolerance, is a big aspect of this, such as accepting others opinions or tolerating smoking in public. Do you have any other ideas or opinions about this, in any way, shape or form?

One of the challenges around respecting other people's freedom is that you might have to change your thinking to allow room for theirs.

For instance, i despair of and am disgusted by the latter-day nazi-ism proclaimed by skinhead types. However, since i believe in the rights we are given in the U.S. Constitution, rights that belong to all of us, i have to allow that those others, the ones i don't like, have the same rights that i do. It is a challenge for me to accept that, a challenge for me *not* to want everyone to have rights EXCEPT them.

Respecting the freedoms and rights that other people have is sometimes difficult and unpleasant but it's also necessary. If we don't offer tolerance to others, they shouldn't have to offer it to us, either, should they? And then where would we all be?
