I can only guess. I would take the router apart and check the connection between the circuit board and the aerial - sound like a bad solder joint - or the aerial broke. All your laptops can't be faulty - so must be the router. if all else fails - get a new router/modem . Maplin have them in their sale.

There are a number of possibilties.
1. The construction of the building you are in does not allow the signals to travel easily thru walls. This can happen with very thick walls, but can also happen in modern buildings with thin plasterboard type walls - some wall materials contain a silver foil type of lining which severely inhibits the wireless signal.
2. Interference from other wireless devices in your area. In the config part of your wireless router try using different channels to see if you get better results on different channels.
3. Other non-WiFi interference. Two common causes of interference with WiFi signals are corldess phones (not mobiles) and microwave ovens.
Changing the position of the access point/router by just a small amount can also have a dramatic effect, as can the positioning/orientation of the antenna.
Also, be aware that when you have mutliple devices connected to a single router via wireless they will be sharing the total available wireless bandwidth. A wireless router nornally has a theoretcial 54Mbps bandwidth - if shared by 5 computers this will be about 10M each.

you might try changing the channel and the power settings on the router sometimes when there is a lot of traffic and a lot of wireless connection in your location it congests the signal thus making it hard for you to browse/ access the internet on your wireless

the signal from your wireless modem is either blocked by very thick walls or jammed by broadcast on a close frequency. try placing the modem high in the building and placing its ariel up in the air. although its a bit technical you can also change the broadcast 'channel' of the modem to improve recpetion on laptops.

My wireless hub has a setting where you can change the signal strength of the antenna, that may be it, log on to the hub and search all the obscure menus it may be there. Good luck!

Yes above user is correct. Try that and if it dosen't work then you can always add a Access Point in the middle to boost the single or add an bigger antenna to it.
