My state (Maine) has a thing for having very isolated towns and families. Some of these areas are said, well at least I've heard hold a great deal of incestuous families. I'm curious, are there health risks for family members having sex? Is there anyone out there who actually, willingly particpates in the act? I personally dont have any feelings toward it one way or the other, I'm just curious. Is it normal or maybe I should say, common for family members to have sex with each other?

No, it is not normal for family members to have sex with each other.

Inbreeding can result in children with mental disabilities. I know someone whose parents are first cousins. She is not too stable and her brother has been institutionalized.

Over a long period of time a group that does a lot of inbreeding will have a greater number of birth defects. This will not come into play in the kind of isolated cases that are fairly common in this country. I know of at least one brother and sister that quietly moved to another state and got married.

Note one - Arkansas is quite the modern state - we got computers and everything

Note two - Rich people were referred to as blue bloods because they did not work in the sun and you could see the color of their veins.

It's just wrong. That's how I see it. And I do believe that there are health risks, and birth defects that go along with incest. I've heard if two people with the exact same blood type aren't suppossed to have children. Personally I think it's gross!!

for starters incest is against GODs law also mans laws and if it does happen its the same as if your having sex with your wife etc. i dont care for breaking GODs law and mans law. but if unclean people do have relations they can be contaminated with aids hiv stds with unprotected sexual intercourse.and also female may become pregnant.the children produced will possibly be mentally handicapped and might have serious birth defects and any type of disease that either parent has. its not a wise idea to have sex with any blood related family members.
