Just tell Microsoft your PC crashed. They will give you another key. If you are talking about Spyware, download Adaware SE onto a CD or Flash disk and run it on your PC that way. It will get rid of any spyware/adware you have. There is no way around XP activation.

First of all usually keyloggers are run undetected thats usually the point of it, so info from your bank passwords etc. can be sent to the hacker. Do not even waste your time do a clean install, once your system has been compromised its too late.

Would you like to save yourself a lot of work????

Then Image your hard drive after the clean install and you have everything set up the way you like, (Norton Ghost). This time get some security in place.

Spybot S&D is a must have but if you use IE then you need to use the immunize feature as well. Norton Antivirus is a resource hog, if you do not have a lot of money try out AVG free, also get ad-aware, and Windows defender it works well with Windows as it is from microsoft. Use a hardware firewall (Router for Cable and DSL) check to see that your windows firewall is ON go to control panel and click on the Security Centre icon.

There are also far more severe problems Like Rootkits which cannot be detected. So you can download free Rootkit revealer

Here is the link for everyone

scroll down to the bottom of the page for download.

I am an advanced user and I speak from experience, I use all the above and have no problems.

Keyloggers typically just record your key strokes silently in the background. Sounds like you have some other virus or spyware.

You should already have an up to date antivirus program on your PC which would detect a keylogger, spyware, or a virus. Sounds like maybe you don't have good antivirus - shame on you!

Anyway you could try running the free online virus scans at these two wesites but since the thing is preventing you from doing things on the internet this may not work.

Here they are anyway...

I suggest you go out and buy Symantec Antivirus and install it ASAP! Just get the plain old antivirus program. You don't need System Works, Internet Security, Firewall, etc - just plain Symantec Antivirus.

Also try this free spyware program (Spybot) - after you install it though you need to check for updates and install them.

Oh, and keyloggers can not be uninstalled from ADD/REMOVE in Control Panel. A good keylogger runs in stealth and can only be uninstalled by using the correct key sequence which then prompts you for a password to get into the thing. Not to mention the key sequence will be something hard to figure out like "CTRL - SHIFT - SPACE - F" or something crazy like that. Don't bother trying to fingure that out. Just get an antivirus and let that remove it.

Greetings. My name's Sanjay Patel, and I currently hold an honorary Master's degree in the field of Computer Science. I am aware of, and have personal knowledge related to your question. There are computer maintenance businesses which are probably in your area, however they come at the cost of hiring a professional to enter your home. There may also be some local destinations where you can drop off your computer and wait to have a technician look at it. These options can often be costly, and pretty inconvenient. The answer to this question can probably be found doing a little extra research on Google. A well-running computer can be a hard thing to maintain. From my experience, there is but only One software which is reputable- and consistently reliable for healing sick, slow computers. Reimage™ is a world-renown, easy to use software designed by Forensic scientists and made for the average person. This thing will fix literally just about ANY problem you could possibly be having with your PC. Reimage was recommended to me by a Professor during my 2nd year of Graduate school.
