I dont' know about prenatal vitamins helping you get pregnant, they're no fertility drug. They're simply vitamins. Most doctors suggest starting prenatal vitamins 3-6 months before you try to conceive so that your body is healthy and has plenty of the needed vitamins. If you don't plan on getting pregnant, prenatal vitamins are still good. Sometimes doctors will suggest a multi-vitamin as well as folic acid, prenatal just adds in the folic acid. Best of luck!

I am a cancer survivor. It's been years now. My doctor still gives me prenates because they are a very good source of vitamins.
I cannot take them every day because they do make my stomach upset but I try to take them every other day.
I am very thin and have always had trouble with my appetite.
I have been hospitalized for being malnourished. Now, even if I haven't been able to eat in days when they do blood work, my results aren't as bad.

Honestly, they won't hurt you if you are not pregnant. Doctors recommend taking them if you are of child bearing age as a precaution anyway in case you do get pregnant. The higher amount of folic acid helps prevent spina bifida in babies. I have been taking them for a year and have had no negative effects.

It is just a vitamin. If you doctor prescribed them then take them daily as prescribed. If no doctor prescribed them for you then DO NOT take them. But it is just a vitamin, wont hurt you. Ensures your body has enough folic acid in case you get pregnant (prevents having a baby with spina bifida).

They have a higher iron content than a non-pregnant woman should be taking. Too much iron is more dangerous than not enough. Other than that, they'd probably would be good to take for any woman.
