Isn't it a doulbe standard? First let me say I know a little red wine here and there can be good for you.

But isn't drinking just as harmful as smoking. Drunk driving? How come people don't give those who drink such hard time as they give smokers? Its basicaly the same things, aren't you just posining your body with a liquid, your liver to be exact and brain. With alcohol.

How come you can advertise drinking on tv, but not smoking, isn't that a little strange?

What are your thoughts on the double standard as I see it.

If any misspelling, my mistake.

I'ts a bunch of crap.. We don't discriminate against drinkers as much as we do smokers because there are more drinkers than smokers, which is BS if you ask me, because I can drive down the street smoking a cigarette without being a danger to society unlike somebody driving with a drink or two in their system, yet my secondhand smoke is somehow more offensive..

Both are equally dangerous. Both can destroy your health. Both are poison if abused. Both can kill you. Drunk driving and second hand smoke can kill other people as well. Don't know about red wine - I don't drink it. And yes, it is strange that you can advertise drinking on tv but not smoking. It is my opinion that both should be banned from commercials as it does not set a good example for children. These are my thoughts on drinking and smoking. Best not to do either one. Drinking destroys your liver, pancreas, ruins your brain and ruins families. Smoking destroys your lungs, gives you emphysema (spelling?), causes cancer and can cause all kinds of problems for children that breath second hand smoke. One is just as bad as the other.

Frankly people dont give a damn if you are not posioning them, yes drunk driving kills people but some don't care unless they are personally affected by it (and then they become all righteous and join a mothers against drunk driving or something similiar)
Its like the people who ***** about the drivers in the city and then cut you off on your way home..It inconveniences people so then they decide to make an issue of it.

I have noticed that recently myself K...they used to advertise ciggies on tv then they took it off and now they can liquor...they were talking about taking flavored ciggies off the market because it could appeal to kids but have never said anything about flavored liquor.
Now they have the cigarette companies making ads against smoking primarily because they are being made to do it through lawsuits. You help to get people hooked then you say don't do it...I am totally confused!

agreed. I have seen more people I know die from alcohol (drunk driving accidents, cirrosis of the liver, alcohol poisoning) than from smoking. My grandmother smoked 3 packs a day most of her life and she died from a botched surgery.
