while it may be true to some, it is not true to all.

my father graduated from emery riddle, at the top of his classes, and currently serves as a LT. Col. with the US airforce, I fail to see how that is dumb

John Kerry is both ignorant and arrogant. His remarks about members of the military was offensive and insulting by inferring that they are uneducated people who couldn't get any other job.

Members of the military are highly trained and skilled professionals. They are the best at what they do, Many earn or complete their college education thanks to the tuition assistance they receive because of their military service.

There is NO defense for Mr Kerry's remarks. (although I am certain there will be some partisan people who will try)

I'm going under the assumption that he was not talking about the brave, honorable and HIGHLY intelligent people in our military, but actually refered to the situation the President has gotten the country in. Either way he did use a very poor choice of words, in front of the wrong crowd, and refusing to apologize or better explain his comments has only allowed his true colors to shine through!

If he was referring to the president's intelligence - If memory serves according to a news report after the '04 election, Kerry's GPA was LOWER than Bush's. No-matter who won we would have had a C Average president in office! Kerry has NO CREDIBILITY insulting the president's intelligence!

Again, if memory serves - Kerry ALSO voted to go to war in Iraq. Much of the evidence used to convince congress to vote for war was collected during Clinton's term - Bush didn't need to lie! Why can't democrats like Kerry stop trying to pretend they aren't also responsible for the current situation? Instead they accuse, criticize, and in Kerry's case using the troops as political fodder.

The situation in Iraq isn't as bad as the Dem's make it sound. Yes troops are dying, or coming back wounded - but THIS IS WAR! They have achieved most of their goals, Saddam is no longer in power, but the ultimate goal - stabilizing the country is still just out of reach. The casualty rate is NOTHING like past wars, and the situation is improving! Kerry, Pelosi, Clinton and others who may read these answers - Stop bad mouthing the Commander in Chief or his staff, and start providing ideas and guidance to our president. Kerry said he had a plan during the last election - lets hear it! TAKE responsibility and lets with-draw from Iraq only AFTER we've helped to clean up the mess we've made!

Kerry said, "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

Liberals are now claiming he was talking about President Bush.
Nowhere did he mention the name of President Bush. His insult was directed just at our nrave troops.

He never did apologize. Republicans need to realize that liberals hate the military. If we allow Congress to be overtaken by the Democrats, we will surely see this war underfunded and our brave troops left without the tools to keep them safe or to win the war.

Why should he apologize for telling the truth, that a high school education can get you a job so you won't have to join the army? If you knew anything about the comments you've posted, you would realize that, just because YOU don't understand, doesn't mean that what he said is not true.

Or that if you elect morons to office, that they ll entangle you in a quagmire, another nation's civil war, that thousands of our nation's finest and bravest young men and women will die fightig for an unjust and unwanted cause.

Iraq wasn't asking for Democracy, Turkey was asking for help to preserve Democracy. Bush was too dumb to realize that a 13.5 billion dollar investment in the Turkish Democracy was better than a half trillion dollar investment in forcing Democracy on Iraq.

Kerry was right, a lack of Education puts leaders in place who will get us stuck in iraq. It happened. He is a Vet, he was attacking Bush, not Vets. Bush ISN'T VET!!!! He is just putting Vets into the line of fire!!!!!!!!!!

True.. Not prudent.

But come on, we all know that the military *is* the last choice available for many young people who do not do well in school, or even socially.

It is no insult, the military advertises parents considering letting the kids join the military after looking around and seeing gangs and pregnant kids

John Kerry is such a panderer. He would have never said that crap in front of a group of veterans or troops it doesnt matter what he "really meant"

He meant to slam Bush and the phrasing came out wrong. I can't see him slamming the military. As someone who knows what its like to say something that comes out the wrong way, I give Kerry the full benefit of the doubt.
