VAG DSG box is faster, it's actually a dual clutch preselector. The BMW SMG is about the same speed as a really agressive road tester.
Only in America would people claim that all automatic transmissions are fast, most are complete slugs.

On many custom street rods the automatic transmission is modified slightly so that it can be shifted "manually" from "Low 1" incrementally all the way up to "drive" which is sometimes faster.

I think the automatic Mercedes SL and BMW 635 are faster.

Most Automatics today are faster than sticks... the corvette is a good example.
Faster, yes. More Durable, no. More Boring, Definitely

all of them. stick does not make your car go faster - especially if you are racing. you are wasting time using a stick because you have to shift gears - letting off the gas momentarily while you do that.
