Something doesn't seem right about people who have superior authority with inferior intelligence. I know that if Chicago police acted more prudently, the city would save millions of dollars every year on court settlements.

I know that police are heroes and work hard and put their lives on the line and blah blah blah. But wouldn't it make sense to require a college degree? I mean, they have a lot of responsibility!

I've seen a cop sleeping in his car in a parking lot, and another charge full speed, sirens and lights blaring, blowing traffic lights, and pull into a 7-11...for a pack of smokes. Come on!

i get what your saying, but thats not a sign of cops being stupid (although i'm not saying its not true, just not a factor) but its really caused by the fact that they are, as we all are at times, lazy and power-hungry, as all humans are, and they can get away with it on the job...
cops that went to college are just as likely to slack of as other cops, IF they can get away with it,,, instead we need to have college educated police chiefs, etc, to enforce the rules of the job and cut down on that stuff

College degree or not it seems that what you are dealing with is an irresponsible office. A college degree won't stop you from sleeping on the job or abusing your authority.
