I own the universe. I can show you the paperwork if you want.

An especially unconvincing teleological argument. Everything must have an owner. Thus, the universe must have an owner. Whatever owns a universe is God. Therefore, God exists.

Ha ha ha. The first premise is wrong: not everything has an owner.

The international treaty that says that celestial bodies in space are the common heritage of mankind is a big part of why space colonization never happened. If no one can own the planets or asteroids, or parts thereof, then no one has any particular economic incentive to fly out to claim them and make use of them. The other nations in the UN would squawk, and the nation that had undertaken all the risk and hardship, had made all the sacrifices, had paid all the costs, of plowing the field would have to share the harvest with a bunch of do-nothings.

So space colonization never happened, and probably it never will. Had that treaty never been made, the nations who could have done something, would have. Not all nations had the intellectual or the industrial wherewithal, but at least there would have been a permanent human presence away from our planet.

But, as it is, Fred Hoyle's gloomy prophecy about life failing in our solar system will probably come true, due to a stupid tragedy in the commons.

Hi:

My answer : God own the whole Universe by right of Creation However no nation or person owns outer space or the planets of the our Solar Systems They are the property of All mankind, However you can claim a Small Section of a ground on another planet by going there and and planting your flag on that section of ground however you must be the first one to be there and you must file it with some legal agency on Earth but you can own a asteroid to mine it but half of what you mined must go the U.N. for distribution but they will allow the sale half to pay for your cost . It some rule they have for the Use of outer space and it resources.

International treaties have been signed that state that no one owns space. That includes the moon and sun, mars and etc. This was not only to stop colonization disputes but also dumping of waste products like spent nuclear fuels into any of these places.

Maybe the Creator will help us take better care of the earth.

Although the nations of Earth "own" the air space above them, outer space belongs to no one.

Gravity invaded space and oversees all aspects of it. So, if you have a problem with space your' gonna have to deal with gravity.
