I'm doing a class project for marine Biology and I need some fish or a fish that can withstand a temperature of 23 degrees Celisus a pH of 8.4 and the salinity ranging from 28-32ppt
I need it to have either sand, rocky/coral or plants in the tank as well.
Its a 10 gallon.
Do you have any suggestions ?

Are you an experienced fish keeper or do you need something simple? Is this a saltwater set up or are you intending this to be brackish? If you have a saltwater set up for the aquarium, I would suggest one damsel or a couple blennies or gobies. If you have a freshwater set up, you are going to have to use brackish fish, and there aren't many that will keep in a 10 gallon. You can keep a couple of black mollies in a brackish 10 gallon aquarium, but they are usually kept at very low levels of salinity in the pet store so you would have to raise your salinity slowly. 23 celsius is pretty cool for a lot of saltwater fish and corals, so you'll have to make sure you keep subtropicals that can handle that temperature. The salinity is on the lower end of acceptable for salt water, and the high end of acceptable for brackish, and the pH is a little high for a brackish aquarium. If you aren't keeping coral in the aquarium (live in salt or crushed in brackish), there is a good chance the pH won't be buffered in the aquarium and it will drop (not good for the fish). Hope this helps.

Actually the ocean is such a consistent, stable environment that all marine fish have basically the same requirements in terms of pH and salinity though some fish are from coldwater areas and others are from warm water.

For such a small tank my favories would be a percula or ocellaris clownfish (a Nemo fish, always popular!) or a Royal Gramma. These are colorful, hardy fish and relatively inexpensive for saltwater fish. An Orchid Dottyback is another great choice though they are a bit pricey. You could also look into small damsels (watch, though, many get too big for your ten gallon). Neon gobies would be a great choice, too, and can be kept in groups. A Yellow headed Jawfish would also be a cool display with a deeper sand bed since they excavate burrows that they dart in and out of! With the common clownfish you can buy two and you will automatically have a pair (they are hermaphroditic which means that they can change into the other sex over time). You might try your hand at breeding clowns though you would have culture microscopic foods for the newborn fry.

With a ten gallon tank you have to be very careful - temperature, salinity, pH, and other water parameters can fluctuate quickly and wastes can build up fast. The ocean environment is very stable so these fish are not adapted to rapid changes that freshwater fish can often handle. So, you want fish that are small, stay small, and are hardy. I would only put two, possibly three, of these small fish in a ten gallon saltwater tank.
