Whats is your opinion on then?
Do you judge them unfairly just because of a habit they have?

I am a smoker. I don't smoke in my home. I change shirts & wash my hands & face after coming back inside from smoking (therefore I don't smoke often). I do this because I have a baby. My baby is not allowed to visit anyone's home who smokes.
I do not smoke in restaurants & never light up at someone's home who doesn't smoke.
Even before the baby I wouldn't smoke in my own house if I invited someone over who doesn't smoke.
Smoking is MY choice, not a nonsmoker's choice. I'm not going to make someone breathe my secondhand smoke. I'll get away from them to do it.

I'm smoking a cigarette right now.

To answer your question :
If smokers take their responsibility, (don't smoke where you're not allowed to smoke, ask if you are allowed to smoke inside at a party, and if not, just go outside when you need a smoke) I think there is no problem what so ever.

As it is now, a lot of people, and of course the government, treat smokers as if they are the only ones who are responsible for causing longcancer to everyone they come in contact with while smoking.

I've had a stroke and still can't stop smoking, even tho I know it's the stupidest thing I can do.
How come drug-addicts over here (the Netherlands) get all the help they need, free from charge.....but smokers, who lawfully pay for their habit, get no help at all? Oh sure, there are anti-smoking-plasters, courses you can take, you can have accupuncture done....but only if you yourself are able to find the right instances to help you, AND of course pay big time for it.

Hasn't the government read a report a renowned American University (forgot which one) published over 7 years ago already?
Through research they discovered it was harder to kick off of nicotine than of heroine.!!!!(only quitting a crack/cocaine habit is harder to do)

It's SO easy to say to smokers they should quitt....have you noticed most of the time it are non-smokers who tell you this?

Sorry for rambling on, as you can see this is a topic that really "touches" me.

My dad is a smoker, has been for a few decades now... I don't really have that much of an opinion of smokers, but I hate being around smoke because of the smell, the effects, etc. I don't care much about their habit, but I don't like it that much if they smoke around little kids because I doubt the little kids can just walk away from the smoke and stuff... Yeah, I've seen parents smoking in front of their kids or other people smoking in front of kids...
It sort of sends a bad image for some people...

Smokers are drug addicts, plain and simple. It's really no different than being hooked on heroin or coke, it's just legal. You wouldn't look at someone who was addicted to a drug like that as a filthy person, you'd say "wow, he has a problem." People look down on smokers just because their smoke happens to be in their precious air, and they're too stupid to WALK AWAY from a smoky area if they don't like it.

I HATE all of those stinkin' condescending Truth commercials that go on about how terrible and evil cigarettes are, as if us smokers are completely oblivious to how bad they are for us. How stupid do they think we are? What, we can't read the warnings on the side of the pack? Hell, in some places, the warning takes up the entire box. We can't use common sense and realize that inhaling all of this chemical-laden smoke into our lungs just might damage them? I know it's going to make me sick, so why do I keep smoking? I can't stop, and some stupid annoying commercial isn't going to help that.

i am a ex smoker so i understand what its like, i also work in a group in which there all smoke and i don't careless , i stop for my reason, and if i don't wont to be around them then when there are smoking i simply move , i never ever preach to them about the affects smoking as , or how much their could save , their grown up people there know, its a stinky habit i agree , and im the first to admit i can still stand the smell of nicotine and i have not smoked for 7 years, so for me its each to there own.

I don't understand why they smoke even though they know all the health problems that are linked with it. I could understand with some of the older people took it up before the health problems were publicly released, but i don't understand how young people could take up the habit now? The smell of the smoke does put me off people that does linger on the clothes, but i don't try and judge them on there habit.

Good question kid. I'm a smoker, however I'd LOVE to quit if I had enough self control. I usually make a pre judgment on smokers, that they're more "street smart" but that's the only opinion I have when it comes to that. I could care less if someone smoked or didn't. Doesn't change who they are inside!

NO I don't judge them it's there thing & they have a right to it just like everyone else. It does not bother me at all - I think they are really making a big issue out of nothing, there are more important things to worry about!! If someone does not like the smoke then get away from them- I do not smoke by the way!!

I am an ex smoker so I probably judge them even more harshly than a non smoker. I hate the smell of nicotene. I hate the smell of their breath and the smell that permeates into my clothes and furniture. I try to convert them into living more healthily by not smoking, by reminding them that they will probably end up with lung cancer, hardening of the arteries and all the other illnesses attributed to smoking. At the end of the day it's their lives they're welcome to smoke themselves to an early death, but do it far away from me. Passive smoking is also very dangerous.

I don't think any less of them, I just wish they were more considerate of non-smokers. I hate when I go to the gas station and am paying for gas while holding my daughter and some fool is smoking like it's going out of style, and the second hand smoke is irritating everyone around.
