I have a perfectly good vest and a sweater that have sections that are ball-y from rubbing, I suppose. How can I safely remove these balls because I'm sure these garments would look brand new afterwards?

If you don't have one of those clothing shavers, try using a razor that you would use on your legs. You have to be careful, but the razor will remove those little "knots" .

Good luck.

Buy a roll of tape that you use for mailing packages. Cut off piece long enough to wrap around your hand, then pat the sweater. Change tape often. If the balls don't come off, they're not going to.

I agree with the regular razor, that works very well. Just lay the item flat and carefully use pressure, you'll be able to tell how much without damaging it.

Use a pumice stone (like you use on your feet in the shower), it will grab up most of the "pills"
