Then I was running my shop I paid 50/50 flat rate.. in other words 1/2 of the labor so labor rate was 40.00 per hr back then they were paid 20.00 per hr. but a good body man can average 10hrs labor in 6hrs that's 31.66 per hr.. Today the shops are greedy and don't want to pay that much .. they chg..$50-$65 and want to pay $14.00 flat rate. which turns to $23.33 if you figure the 6/10 rule... For the Life threatening chemicals that a body man works with That's not nearly enough.. SEIZURES ETC...

if you are someone who needs money badly, an auto body specialist would be the best for you. I have a couple friend who are auto body specialists and their monthly payment is $10,000. I'm being pragmatic. No joke. They don't start with that much money in the beginning, but as your skills get better you might be able to reach that high. If you decide to work as a body man you must stick with it and your skills must be qualified in order to earn that much money($10,000). This job is actually better than being mechanics. Mechanics don't even make half of a pro auto body man because less likely people get more crashes than their cars' fuel or engine break down. And Body men are the one who are responsible of crashes. So that is the info about body man and i hope this helped you.

I've been with Dent Wizard for 4 years now and its pretty good money $40-$70 a year. Small independent dent companies usually make a little better because unlike a bigger company they have a better commission rate. However, the hail storm techs make the best I've ever saw, some of those techs can pull in $100,000+ in 6-7 months.

I worked at a GM dealership as a painter and averaged 70K a year, but I put in 14 hours a day and had no life.It really depends on how busy the shop is and how good and fast you are.The quality of materials can slow you down or speed you up.When I started working in bodyshops I made 9.00 hour on commision and I learned how to get fast, turning 20 hours in 12 hours is very realistic and you can get about 15.00 an hour

If working for somebody else, from $15 to $25 an hour depending on qualification, etc.
If self-employed, like those guys with the van who drive between dealers and fix small body damages, they make like $30 - $50 an hour (all numbers are approximate)
