Ra was well known for being an Egyptian sun god. My old history teacher taught us this little rhyme to remember Ra and monotheism:

There is but one god,
he is the sun god.
Ra! Ra! Ra!

When was was incarnate, he was known as Ra-Ta to the Egyptians. He helped in creating the pyramids and taught those in high positions the 'ways of the One Creator.' However, his lessons were not told to the culture as a whole, and only those with power and money could learn his teachings. So Ra-Ta left the physical realm, and promised to aid in spiritual guidance for any soul asking for Their help (Ra is a collection of souls, not an individual) because of the guilt felt in their one-on-one dealings with humans.

You can read much on Ra in The Law of One.
