My roomate was preheating my oven to 350 degrees... and I just glanced at the display and saw 350 and thought it was 3:50. So I figured I had plenty of time to be at work by 5:00... but turns out it was actually about 4:30 then!
They bought it.

I was on the London tube I missed my stop so got off at the next one, ran like hell through the tunnel to get to the opposite side, slid down the steps the heal came off my shoe so I had to hop to a shoe menders to get it repaired before I could go to work and of course the shoe repairer didn't open until 9 o'clock so I was late. There were no mobile phones then so I couldn't phone in.

Well as i am the owner and therefore the boss of the business i am in...
M excuse i salways that the lady that was in my company for the evening is still here so not only will i be late for work...
But i may need to take the week or a month off...

I went to Cedar Point and didn't make the decision to go until 1 am that day and I said my Great Aunt died. I know it's horrible, but I was 19 and had never called into work besides when I was actually sick. I worked for me. I never heard anything about it form my boss, a co-worker told me she figured I lied, but didn't' care because everyone deserves at least one free day.

A truck full of live chickens turned over on the highway, and because of the total chaos, I was late. Yes, it worked. And it was actually true, but I was afraid that it sounded like the kind of thing somebody would just make up.

I was late for school and I said 'I was feeling sick when I woke up so I decided to stay home. Then I felt better so I came in. That's why I'm late'.
It worked. the teacher was really nice to me and made me feel soo guilty :D

one time i told my boss that my husbands best friend had been in a car wreck and died and we needed to be at the hospital. I felt REALLY guilty about it and ended up quitting my job the next week b/c of the guilt.

I told them I was pulled over for speeding but then they got called into a shooting and didn't give me a ticket. And yeah I can't believe it but it worked.
