In today's world it is indoctrination, not education.
It should be the preparation of youngsters for adult life!

Education is teaching and learning subjects or ideas or skills that people are in need of or require to become more educated or to teach or to do . It's really any learning experience that is being taught and learned by anyone. You don't have to have a degree to be educated or to educate. My mother educated me in a lot of things and I learned from many people in my life so, it depends on the context in which you use the word. In college it's one thing in real life it's another.

Education is a life long process. There are two types informal (in informal classes or in the streets) and formal (in school). Learning takes place everywhere. As long as you are ready to assimilate lessons learned .

Education is of two types
Vidhya and avidhya
Divine mother is both so we call her "vidhya avidhya swaroopini"
seeking the divine mother is called Vidhya
so it is said mother is - Aatma vidhya, Shri vidhya, Maha vidhya swaroopini
The rest of all knowledge in this world let it be any thing is avidhya as it does not give redemption from birth and death cycle
