i am in my senior year and know that high school is just not for me. I know of the chspe and want to take that and move on with my life to community college. I feel like i am wasteing a year of my life sitting through high school. I won't be 18 until may, can i somehow stop going to school, work and take the chspe whenever the next test date legally? i know you are required to attend school until your 18 in california, but i really dont think i can do it.

I recently took the CHSPE, I don't know if I passed it or not but legally you have to be in school until your 18 or graduated High School. Below poster, no you can't legally drop out at 16, people DO drop out but not legally. Just asking though, how can you get a job without a diploma or a GED? I mean even with a diploma it's even hard to get a minimum wage job. Just tough it out man, I am guessing your credit deficient? If you aren't get your *** in gear because you only have 1 year left. If you are credit deficient you will have an easy year before you take the CHSPE. Just sleep in your classes also you can casually ditch school sometimes (usually schools won't chase you if you ditch once every 2 weeks or so). In short, you can't legally drop out but what you can do is have a easy year (but not too easy! you should really study before the test). The test is harder than everyone thinks and thats why the fail rate is so high on the test. No it's not EXTREMLY hard but everyone seems to think the math part is like 2+5=7 or something like that.

Hope everything goes for the best.

You have your whole life ahead of you still. Just stick it out and stay in there, and graduate. You will be much happier when you get older, believe me! STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! I am real old now, but I wish I had paid more attention in school. I know it is hard for young people, like yourself, to listen to older people. But, just this one time, please, listen to what I am telling you. Ok? Thanks.
