The Sabres are good because they have been planning this for some time. If you look at the roster you will see that the majority of the starters were draft picks and played many years in the farm club together. This translates to the "chemistry" being there for some time. Plus Lindy Ruff is a good head coach. They also have a good core of veterans in Drury, Briere, Spacek. This team is for real.....we'll just have to wait to see what they can do down the road.

I'm as big a Sabres fan as any, but don't get ahead of ourselves. It's been one month. The depth of players is outstanding. Anyone can score on that team. It's funny how many scoring chances even Peters and Mair have had already. Also, you can put either Miller or Biron in net and they are equally outstanding. You gotta give it up to teams like Atlanta, Dallas, Minnesota, and Anaheim as well cause as Atlanta proved the other night, those will be rough games. Lucky for us that we don't play 3 of them much cause they're in the west.

They've had a good start and that's it. Quit giving them so much credit, especially when there are teams like Dallas, Minnisota, and Aneheim who have also had great starts. These other teams havn't gotten any credit and you people are already talking Stanley Cup.

Because their team fits the mold of the new NHL. Quick, fast, great puck handling, skillful passing. They've also had great draft picks and a great minor league system. Guys like Roy, Vanek, Afinogenov, Miller, Biron, Novotny, Kotalik, Pominville, Tallinder, Campbell, and Kalinin have all been sabres draft picks.

They have more speed than anyone in the East, and they have solid goaltending. Afinogenov is finally realizing his great potential, and Drury is just out of his head (why, why, why did the Avs trade him???).

Plus, Lindy Ruff is God. I think he really should get a lot of credit for their start, just like Jacques Lemaire needs to get a lot of the credit in Minnesota. Both teams did it the right way: They built up solid teams and didn't panic when things didn't go incredibly right away -- an added bonus to them seeing that they both play in hockey-crazed regions.

yes the Sabres are playing great hockey Drury and Briere are both on my hockey pool at my work and I've always loved Briere if he can stay healthy he is dangerous in the new NHL well the team is. but remember its the playoffs that counts not the regular season. but its going to be a battle in the northeast division with the Habs, Sabres and the Sens are starting to look better, but my Habs beat them tonight. good luck on the season.

We have plenty of guys in Rochester good enough to play in the NHL but not enough room on the team--I guess Darcy does know what He is doing.

I think they have just clicked together as a team. Breire, Afinaganov,and Drury make up a sweet line. There has also been some solid goaltending between the pipes.

Because of their HIDEOUS uniforms.lol. Don't get ahead of yourself. It's only been a month of hockey. We can all start talking about how good a team is AFTER the playoffs begin in April. Not to discredit them in any way, but come on.
