After 1 hour left in a store parking lot at 50 F, I cannot start this car. However, the next day I can start my car without any problem. One of the local mechanics said he could not find anything wrong with it. This happened at least three times. Sometime I have to wait for only 1h before I can restart my car.

These sometimes start problems are difficult to diagnose at best.

There are several possibilities and just too many to list. Some of the more likely causes are a faulty neutral safety start switch, next time the car does this, shift the car into neutral and see if it starts, if it does the neutral safety start switch is supsect. A bad starter motor or a bad battery. Try jump starting the car with another battery. If the car starts up right away the starter motor itself or your battery may be weak.

I'd start there first.

I had one car that did that, and it turned out to be the starter motor shaft warped when it got hot. Symptoms are that the starter won't turn when hot, even if jumped from another battery. I had a guy stop, and suggest loosening the starter bolts, and it fired up. Felt pretty stupid, but learned something.

the problem your describing is kinda vague...if there is a check engine light on or not...a broken muffler will not cause that problem...a clogged converter will and once it cools it will then restart but will run poorly once it gets hot again..which will happen very soon once the engine is running...whens the last time you had a tune up????
