Which of the following would be a better solution to the homeless problem in this country?

Should we set up an arena fighting system, take them in off the streets and have them compete in some sort of cage for food, cash, or booze. If so, should there be weapons involved or just hand-to-hand?

OR Should we consider them as an alternate food source (ie soylent green) perhaps shipping this food off to famine stricken countries such as Etheopia and India

In the 277 years since Swift's Modest Proposal was written, the condition of most of the western world has gotten better. But we still have an embarrassing little secret.

I'm sure we've all walked past poor old men sleeping on the street and thought, "why can't something be done about this?" But nothing gets done.

We have jerks that take out video cameras to record staged "Bum Fights." We have seen the charming little habit of setting the homeless on fire, just for kicks. Does anything get done?

So I guess, having seen all the crap that gets dumped upon those least able to defend themselves, I just can't work up any righteous indignation to this question.

When the people who take offense at it start calling for more and better homeless shelters, free psychological counseling, free alcohol and drug treatment, and hospice care, then I'll revisit my feelings about Swiftian satire, and tell the submitter that this was in bad taste.

But right now - probably because I need to sleep - I think the world is in worse taste.

The homeless are not a joking matter and the gov, could do a lot more to help so could the states, the blacks have the answer in south Ga, they have farms where other blacks can go and work and they will be fed and housed and earn a small amount to buy necessities with our gov, has the ans but, there are not enough votes to make it a priority.Pres, Reagan had the solution also but the A,C,L,U, and the U,S, Supreme shot him down,they even ruled it was unconstitutional to make them work for their welfare , checks, the bible says a man will earn his bread by the sweat from his brow, so how can some of you say we are trying to mix church and government?

First of all, you should not train them in combat skills. One day they will get back at you. Second, why is it so important to you to deprive them from the last drop of pride and dignity? I know, it is difficult to see any pride in a smelly bum but they are a very light load to society when compared to guys like Mr. Bush, who has in fact sold the good old U.S to Saudis and whoever has the money. He who holds the economy holds the scepter. You should not value everything in $$. If you want to hunt, you should go for the prime game. No point in harassing mice.

Homeless people should radically change their lives through education. If they are too old for it, they must prepare their children for it. No man, no nation can survive with alms.
