My PS2's getting cranky and won't read some games and movies. Others it'll read some of the time, and still others work fine. The disks are clean and relativly undamaged, so I'm guessing it's the system. What can I do? just get a new one, have it repaired or what?

Thanks

It's probably the infamous "disc read error" that most PS2's go through(including my own). Call Sony's Playstation tech support site and you can send your PS2 in for repairs at no cost, since this has happened on a consistent basis. I did that for mine and I got it back in around five weeks.

the people said that the light doesn't read right and you can't do anything about it yourself
you have to send it to sony to get repaired or just buy a new ps2

There's probably dust on the lens, get somebody smart to clean it. You need a small Phillip's head screw driver and a micro one. 6 screws are on the bottom hidden under 6 rubber squares. On the inside is one by fan and 2 micro on lens cover. You need to also pry open the rear and both sides of lens cover.
