the only one i can think of that fits this description would be Rangoon Creeper....dies back in the winter, but comes out slowly in the spring with a big bang of pink clusters of flowers. it needs to climb.....some people in Houston have let these cover and entire home (of course they keep them trimmed)

You might be referring to the tar vine, which is a common weed in Australian gardens. Farmers curse the thing heartily because it crowds out beans and grain crops.

that depends which state it grows in because there truly is thousands of them. are you talking about a native australian vine.... we have many introduced species which thrive in our environment.
