One of the coolest things about Zippos is their versatility in fuels. You can use torch oil and it should work just fine. I've used bar-b-cue lighter fluid and lamp oil in mine.

I wouldn't use anything but lighter fluid. Tiki torch fluid is likely to contain citronella or perhaps kerosene. I doubt either will ignite from the flint spark of the Zippo. It isn't enough to blow your hand off, but you would have to light a match to get a flame started from these fuels. Doesn't make much sense using a match to ignite a lighter.

I wouldn't recommend it! Zippo lighter fluid is formulated to produce best results. Using something such as tiki fuel might work in the beginning, but will probably gunk up the insides of the lighter over time.

Just look at it this way, lighter fluid is used in lighters because when tested, it is the fluid that is most effective with the least risk of injury to one's self. I would recommend using anything else, just for the simple fact that you are putting yourself in danger and all though explosion may not be the exact event that happens, that is not the only thing that can be detrimental to your health. Use only lighter fluid. Do not become experimental with anything else because if you are not educated in other flammable liquids, you will get nothing but bad experiences from using them in a lighter.

Man, I wouldn't try anything except lighter fluid. Losing a finger, hand, eyebrows or hair is not worth it. Be careful!
