you need to do a complete tuneup.distributor cap, rotor button, wires, standard or split fire plugs, new fuel filter, air filter and oil change would`not hurt.i do`nt think platinum will help much, just do`nt by cheep parts.also make sure to get good wires.9mm would be best.

No. But you should notice a performance increase no matter what plug you use since the plugs are 10 years old. But generally speaking you won't notice any performance increase. You also might have a hard time removing those plugs. You could strip the threads from the head. Have a heli-coil kit handy.

Use the type and style plug recommended by the manufacturer. if platinum were recommended on the Engine Label under the hood, use them. If not, use the standard plug. They will not enhance the performance or mileage. They will just cost more.
Good Luck

My short and simple belief on spark plugs -
Use the factory installed plugs.
So many times people put what they think are fancy plugs into thier cars and then they have driveabilty problems.
Had a guy the other day say - I just put super whatever triple electrode plugs in my ford truck. I listened (he did belive it would give him better performance), but in my mind I was thinking you idiot. He should have just put Motorcraft factory plugs in and be done with it!
Good luck!

Probably not. Platinum mainly lasts longer.

Yes. And replace the wires too. It will pay for itself in the gas you save, in a hurry.
