Of course it should be legalized. There are two reasons that it is currently illegal.
1) There was a huge propaganda campaign, sponsored by your oh-so-trustworthy federal government to convince the american people to outlaw it. This campaign claimed that it turned guys into violent sociopaths and murderers, and women into raving sluts.
2) When they repealed prohibition, they structured the liquor distribution system in this company to make a lot of people rich, and so that the gov't could tax it and have thier own porkbarrel. If pot was illegal, some of this revenue might drop off.
There is no reason for pot to be illegal. We spend BILLIONS every year enforcing these retarded laws and housing the resulting prisoners. Even prison experts agree that before pot was illegal, everyone who was in jail knew that they deserved to be there, and it has screwed up our "prison culture"

Nevada is voting on this on Nov. 7. The initiative stipulates government sponsored "stores" that would sell up to an ounce to people over 21. The state would make $45 per ounce. I think this is a good idea since the courts and jails are full of drug offenders. The government should take the profit away from criminals. There is no evidence that suggests more people use marijuana when it is legalized.

I think it should just be decriminalized. I come from a province in Canada where the largest industry is the weed industry (officially it's logging) - and so many people rely on the weed people smoke, which is apparently a hell of a lot. Legalizing it would mean that these markets would be closed down.
On the upside, the price would drop, there'd be safer and more acceptable places to smoke, and weed would be govt. grown and safe and worthy all the time. Dunno what would happen to the quality level though. That may be a toss up as laws might make it so that it would be grown with a lesser THC level so less potent.
Legalization is not at all a bad idea overall. Truth is, in most of Canada at least, people would smoke just as much, the weed would be just as good. BUT lotsa locals would be outta business. Selling weed's not that good a job anyway I'd assume.

Marijuana is a plant. No one overdoses on weed. You dont have to alter it to do anything. Its as natural as an oaktree or a rosebush. If we legalize it...we can also control the bad weed and eliminate the drug dealers on the corners.
I personally dont smoke weed. I dont like the feeling.

Definately!!!! It does not cause users to lose all of their inhibitions! Most smokers are very mellow and less likely to be angry and abusive! When was the last time you heard about a fatal accident or non-injury accident caused by a "stoned" driver?
It's obvious to me and I don't even smoke!!!!
