I was just wondering, preferably for people in relationships or longer relationships, how do you feel about your significant other having friends of the opposite sex. As much as i try i tend to get a little bit jealous, usually because people tend to flirt and i know he feels the same way too.

as a female i am quite jealous as well when it comes to other females. well, maybe not jealous of the female but jealous of the attention my significant other is showing to the female. even if it is harmless and i know it's harmless. i think it depends on how you have been treated in the past. i have been hurt before and am a little skeptical of other females.

I'm alright with my BF having friends of the opposite sex, but we both agree that it's best to not have really CLOSE friends b/c we both tend to get jealous simply b/c that other person has known our significant other longer. So in those instances, we're still friends with people of the opposite sex, but we also let our friends know that we're dating and can't talk to them like we used to simply to respect our mate. Our friends have been pretty understanding and if they ever have a party or what have you, they usually invite the other mate just to be polite so as not to cause contention. Just make sure you talk to your BF first and explain how you're feeling b/c he may be rfeeling the same way too about you and your guy friends. Keep the lines of communication open and I'm sure you'll be fine.

If there is no possibility that they want to do the nasty together then opposite sex friends are fine. Do you want to be wondering every time they hang out if they slipped up? I wouldn't put up with my guy having attractive female friends unless they were gay or I was invited along... Men tend to think with their other heads...

just work things out between you 2....if you both do some harmless flirting but still maintain a strong relationship i can guarentee you will be fine. just dont let the flirting get too out of hand. the main thing is to keep communication...dont ever loose that.

Our rule is that the other spouse needs to be invited into the friendship and be comfortable with that person. If the other spouse doesn't like the friend, then the friend had to go.

sounds like you and your other have a good relationship. Why change anything? A little jealously never killed a true romance yet
