Hi everyone :),
I have one question in my chemistry assignment that's giving me hard time, if you know how to answer it, please reply. Here it is:
"Suggest the element (or group of the elements) that could be the central atom, X, in: X2S, nonlinear molecule."
My problem is how can you have 2 identical atoms as the central atoms in a molecule of 3 atoms! Shouldn't S (sulfur) be the central atom? Anyway, sulfur is not in this formual, but X is! So what element(s) could X be?

Please answer today! If not, then don't waste your time :)

Thanks in advance!

Yes. If the formula is X2S, S should be the central atom because its only one. The other two will bond on it. X then could be H, H2S - bent geometry.
