My pediatrician recommended starting solids for my son at 4 months old. We started with cereal and by 5 months had started on veggies. I just gave him 2-3 tbsp cereal in am and 1-2 tbsp veggies in the evening. They get all their dietary needs from formula or breadtmilk at this age so they dont really need solids. My son took 4 8oz bottles at that time and took 2 naps a day about 1-2 hours each.

This is what my pediatricain recommended: 5-8 breastfeedings or 32 oz formula (without cereal in it) 2-3 tbsp cereal and 1-2 tbsp veggie.

My 5 month old is taking 4-5 8 ounce bottles with rice in it a day. The doctor said not to feed with a spoon until he sits up a little better on his own. Remember that every baby is different if yours is doing more or less though.

Every child is different, but for my son he ate about 5 bottles and about 4 ounces of babyfood a day.
