Because they want to stay very quiet. Not oppose or support Kerry's assertion, a week before elections, that the troops are undereducated boobs that were tricked into joining the military because they can't do anything else.

The last thing the Dems wanted was the media to spend the last week talking about Kerry's statement, rather than Foley, culture of corruption, etc...

He must believe that the comanders are uneducated then.
Strange but last time I looked ALL officers had to have a college degree to qualify to become an officer. I know it has not changed but maybe the Democrats know something that the officers in the military do not.
The main reason that there is no outcry by many is that Mr. Kerry is a Democrat!

Because the comment was not about the soldiers, it was about Bush.

He has used a similar speech countless times, and this time, he skipped one word. "us."

"...if you're not educated, you get *US* stuck in a war in Iraq."

In other words, it was a slam on the President, not on the troops.

So when do we Democrats get the apologies for being slandered and called unpatriotic at every opportunity, when Ann Coulter calls for the lynching of federal judges, George Allen's campaign staff slams a Democrat asking him a question to the ground, Republicans cover for pedophiles and get tangled in lobbying scandals, just for starters? Not to mention the half-million people that have been killed in this war of choice?

What's that? You have nothing to apologize for?

Well, then, now you know how Kerry feels.

Honestly, haven't you got something better to do?

They are trying to win in the elections.. if they act like nothing happened, it will go away. If they say anything, it will just keep it in peoples minds.
Kerry is a disgrace to his office and to the American people... check your facts.. he now says the comment was a "joke" that went wrong.. a jab at Bush. Where's Pelosi and Reid? The Dems don't want them in public for the same reason.

What Kerry said has some truth to it, although it doesn't apply to every soldier. Many young men and women enlist in the military because they do not have the financial resources to attend college. The military exploits their situation by promising them money to use for college, which many do not get. Bush doesn't want to admit this because it could risk less kids to enlist in the military.

Nowhere did John Kerry say our Iraq troops are uneducated. And really what he said was true, study hard and you can find a good job, don't study and the only option open to you might be the army. Whats wrong with that?

Because this has always been their sentiments with regard to the military. For the longest time, they (liberals) have been know to impugn and demean the great men and women serving this great nation, have you forgotten about the 2000 presidential election, they(democrates) even tried to refuse oversea military votes?

He was referring to the fact that the army trades on the idea that if you enlist they will provide you with an education. Kids who cannot afford to go to college buy into it and are shipped off to Iraq to be maimed or killed. Facts are facts. Don't take it out of context.

Many are, you'll just never hear about it on network news. BTW, he did not just call them uneducated, he called them uneducatable.
