animals. If they are taken care of (brushed, ridden/exercised) ect. Then they look so sleek and beautiful. The last one I ever rode, was back I think I was like 11 or so, and I fell off in the mud! But they are still beautiful. Do you think? They must require a lot of work though, don't they? I mean, the bridle, the harness, the bit, the saddle, the blanket, ect.. then the feed and cleaning the stall.. ect.

even if I had the time, money, and energy to take care of a horse, my town would not allow it. They have these stupid zoning laws in their head. :-) Go figure.

oh you have no idea hah! i been a horse owner for like 9 years. you can saddles and bridles in all price ranges but no matter how cheap, it's still expensive. and cheap doesn't mean it's going to be any good. you need a place to keep them if you don't have room where you live, and that costs money to board. or you can lease a horse if you can't afford your own. lessons to learn how to take care of them and ride them. saddle pads, saddle, bit, bridle, halter, lead rope, feed, hay, brushes, helmet, gloves, boots, clothes, buckets, the list goes on and on. they may be big animals but they are very delicate. you can hurt them and kill them very easily. you need to do vet checks on horses you are looking to buy. and that's just covering the basics....

I am a horse owner and let me tell you that owning a horse is a ticket into poverty. I love my mare more than anything and would never part with her but owning a horse is not something that should be taken lightly. My advice for anyone considering owning a horse do your research thoroughly. A horse is not like a motorbike you just pull out of the shed and put some fuel in it when you feel like it. Make sure you have the time and money to put into it and most of all don't buy a horse because your friend has one. You must do it for the right reasons because at the end of the day the horse depends on you for everything i.e. care, attention and feed.

Quite a difference from a cat to a horse. But horses are definitely time/ money consuming. After not being around horses 20 years of my life, moving out, and my dad purchasing a horse ranch, i could tell how much work him and his wife put into the horses. Of course they are nice animals, Both of them have other jobs from 7-5, and they get up at 3 am to take care of the horses and immediately doing chores from 5-7, it takes a lot out of them. I guess they still do it because they love horses. Alone they go through a few thousand of dollars a year alone just on food.

Horse's are the most gorgeous creatures on this earth, I love cats too but I have a horse myself and have been taking care of horse's since I was 7 now I'm 18. They are a wonderful experience and can teach a person alot. They are smart, loyal, and have alot of spirit. They may be expensive but it's for they care of a big animal and well worth it. If you want a horse, then you go right ahead and get one... but be sure you know how to take care of one. My horse puts a smile on my face every day!! I love her. I wish you the best.

I'VE BEEN TAKING CARE OF HORSES SINCE I WAS 5. I DID MINOR CHORES IN EXCHANGE FOR RIDING. THEY ARE ALOT OF WORK. I'VE HAD A FEW SERIOUS FALLS. THE WORK IS PRETTY HARD, BUT THE MONEY IT COSTS IS ALOT HARDER. GET A VOLUNTEER JOB IN A RIDING STABLE. MAKE SURE IT'S A SADDLE HORSE RIDING STABLE, NOT A RACING STABLE OR A BREEDING STABLE. THEY TEND TO BE TOO HIGH STRUNG AND EDGY FOR INEXPERIENCED HORSE HANDS. AND PEOPLE WITH THOSE STABLES DON'T LET "NEW" HANDS IN. ONE OF THE VOLUNTEER STABLES I WORKED IN WAS FOR A THERAPY RIDING SCHOOL FOR DEVELOPMENTALLY CHALLENGED AS WELL AS HANDICAPPED PEOPLE. IT WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL, SATISFYING "JOB" I EVER HAD. LOOK AROUND YOUR AREA AND I'LL BET YOU FIND SOMETHING THAT WILL WORK FOR YOU.

even though they are a lot more work than most "pets" if you are a true horse lover, it doesn't matter how hard you work to keep them look gorgeous, cause its all worth it.
