No-- he misspoke. He was trying a dig at Bush rather than the troops. Problem is, it will be spun into "kerry hates the troops"

Absolutely not.
But if you want to BELIEVE that he does (in other words, if you want to believe something fictional as reality), then I guess you now have the "smoking gun".
Do you think George Allen is a racist because he called that guy "macaca"?? I don't think so -- but if I did want to believe such a thing, I'd have a "smoking gun" as well.
This ALL works both ways.
Some day the citizenry will get tired of "gotcha" games & start dealing with issues that REAL people are having.
Until we keep playing these idiot games - we'll just continue to live in a country that is so severely divided that we just keep spinning our wheels in the mud.
Some day- we'll have the right people at the right time.
right now - it's the wrong people at the wrong time.

No, he doesn't.
What he hates is the way we are squandering the lives of our troops in a pit like Iraq...which is why he came back from Vietnam so jaded against these types of wars.

Of course not, the only thing he hates is that 'the troops' are suffering unnessecarily, because of bad calls by their commander in chief.

Absolutly not! He was one. He hates the people in power who put them in harm's way for no good reason. He probably feels sorry for them! Like we all do!
