What was a witch and what was a wizard. When 99.9 percent of the population could not read and superstition was taken as fact, then all you had to do to be considered a witch or a wizard was to be able to do something that could not be explained by the illiterate masses. If you had any concept of science, then you would have been considered a wizard or witch. If you had any concept of herbal medicines, then you were definitely a witch. It is much more difficult to obtain these titles now since the average person is not as stupid as they once were.

Your grandmother needs to be more specific about the special 'gift' so that it does not fit under the 'indulge his fantasy' category.

If there were witches and wizards in the days of the bible, then could they still exist?

First you need to understand what is meant by witches and wizards in the bible.

the hebrew words that were translated to english to mean witches and wizards is not exact.

A witch in the bible was one who communed with the dead.
Today we would call them spiritists or mediums or clairvoient.
It had nothing to do with casting love or wealth spells.

A Wizard was one who used drugs. not turn lead into gold.
the term wizard is the same as the word magi which was later corrupted to magician.

Yes these type of people still exist today, just because you dont believe in something doesnt mean it doesnt exist.
People in northern europe didnt believe in Giraffes or Elephants until they saw one.

your question is what is known in philosophy as a "if, then" question. it doesn't actually prove a point one way or the other. "if" witches and wizards existed in the time of the bible"then" could they exist today...using logic we have to say yes...because if they existed once and nothing has happened to make them not exist such as a cataclysmic extctintion event then they could exist today...that doesn't mean they do...it just means if we follow your "if" supposition then we have only one conclusion that can be drawn

We are born with gifts or talents that extend beyond physical given by God. In and of themselves they are neither good nor evil, it is how and why they are used. One who dedicates themselves to God who has a gift of "sensing" spirits will be used and use it for God, thus giving God the glory and Jesus Christ will be praised with its use.
Someone who is not given to God, may use them for good but in the end they will be used to decieve.
