ok...so i have a house. And I have a roommate who moved in...with 3 kids. his kids have a rat. the rat keeps on getting out of its cage and coming into my room (actually into my bed) at night. its is so freaking disgusting!! I didnt even say that he could have a rat. So anyways in my house we have a wood box and the rat has been staying in there for the past 2 weeks (even though I told my roommate to get rid of it). Yesterday I came home by myself and I looked in the woodbox and there was no rat. It got out of the wood box..I dont know how but it did. Today he left me a message saying "i know that the rat did not get out of the wood box be honest what did you do with it"...by the way in the past I've told him that I was going to get rid of it if he didnt.which he never did. So i think that he thinks that I did something with it but really I have no clue where it is at either. What should I say to him???

You should say "You dirty rat, you killed my brother". I would tell him that I did nothing with his rat, but would ask him if he has seen your new pet python, because he got out of your room, and you can't find him.

First of all you need to set him down and explain to him that no matter how disgusted you are by the rat you would never intentionally hurt it. Let him know that you came home and noticed that the rat was gone. Tell him that it must have gotten out by itself and that you want it to be found just as much as him and the kids do. Rats are very intelligent and will eat through walls to get to food/shelter. Do you have any clothes or bedding on the floor? Look around Rats are natural burrowers they like cozy warm places. The rat will turn up when hungry. Just make sure no food is left around.

tell him to find his own damn rat, and his kids, and go find a place to live....this is your house and they should follow your rules. what woman would want a rat in her house. a rat that could obviously come and go as it pleases. i don't think you are being unreasonable. I'm sure you didn't do anything with the rat either just because i had a boyfriend once had a rat, i hated it pretty bad, but it wasn't my rat to get rid of and it wasn't my house. turned out that rat bit me one day and i kicked it across the room, it got injured and is now in rat heaven. i didn't mean to kill the rat, but it meant to bite me so i didn't feel bad about it. in your case. i don't know......i know you would WANT to get rid of it, but would you actually go through with getting rid of it? as far as saying anything to him about the rat? just ask him when it turned in to your responsibility? rats are not pets. they are vermin.

I would just tell him I didn't do it. Besides that there isn't much you can do. He's going to still think you did it. What do you care. The rat is gone and its your house.

it would appear as if you made a poor choice of roommates...it may be time to ask them to move out and get back to your own life minus the rat.

tell him you did not let the rat out, but you think maybe your pet carpenter ants chewed the wood up and carried it away. give him the boot
