You need to be careful, not all PDA's can be used as a cell phone. for instance, the Tungsten E2, is a multipurpose PDA but does not come with telephone capabilities. Think of a PDA as a handheld computer, some come with phone capability and some do not.

On the other hand the Treo 700p will run any program the E2 can run AND act as a Cell Phone. THOSE kind of PDAs are, of course, much more expensive than the much simpler Tungsten E2.

I have had a Tungsten E for years, it was wonderful, I used it to take notes, read ebooks, keep my schedule, keep track of contacts and clients, play music, and play games. It was an ideal small computer that could connect and synch up with my big PC.

Recently, I got tired of carrying both a PDA and a cell phone, so I bought a Treo 700p. It can do ALL the things my E could do, even with the same programs I had bought for the Tungsten E. PLUS, it functions as a cell phone, has a camera, records sound and movies, surf the internet, check email, pretty much anything in the communications area.

There are also PDAs that are in between these two extremes, for instance the Tungsten T can't be used as a phone, but it can surf the internet, check email, etc.

I suggest before you buy anything, first list all the things you want to do with it, and then group them into things that are essential, things that are nice to have, and things that are fun but frivolous. That will help you decide what features you need and how much machine you need and can afford.

PDA stands for personal digital assistant. basically you can make it do anything you want to assist you in your day to day activities. well some PDA's have internet capabilities so they can be used with the internet along with other programs such as microsoft. some PDA's charge extra but they can also be used as a mobile device. so it all depends on what you have. good luckm and have fun with you PDA, im enjoying mine though. lol

Like the two mated. Small like a mobile. Much more storage. Full featured applications can be run (word processors, relational databases, etc.). Upgradeable unlike most mobiles (OS and memory upgrades).

Both. If you get the internet on it, it'll look like it does on a pc...but slower of course. They're an excellent phone...beats out any "fancy" Razr anyday.
