Can anyone make suggestions on how a smaller nonprofit group can raise some funds to help save the life of a
horse? We have a Percheron who was donated to us to save him, but all four of his feet are rotten from neglect (canker infection)

Our target is $2,000 to cover surgery, medicines, shoeing, and treatment. We've come up with about $500.. but he needs the surgery ASAP and his life is danger
We don't have a big volunteer base yet, so somethng that needs lots of salespeople (like cookie dough) isn't going to work for us right now. It's also fall and nasty weather here so garage sales and outdoor things aren't going to work. I've tried donation jars but so far we only get a few dollars here and there. :-(
Any ideas of an November or December event that we could do on shorter notice?
Is there anywhere I can apply for a grant for medical bills for horses?

Contacting your local news stations is the best idea you'll get. So long as there's a place where people can donate, you'll make it happen. How to do that, though? Get the fax number of your local news stations. Most libraries have books with thousands of media contacts in them, so that's an easy way to get a lot of fax numbers. Type up a double spaced, one page "press release" and fax it in. That's all it takes. I bet you they'll pick up your story! Here's a few links to help you get your press release written. Be sure to keep your phone on during the day after you fax this out. Expect to be interviewed! Good luck to you and your horse!

That guy possessing the horse is bluffing you. He won't get close to $350 at a slaughter sale. Horse costs are DOWN LOW good now. grant him the $350 and tell him it relatively is all you could advance, and act as though this is that. I guess he sells to you. I jurt rescued 3 ravenous (4 in case you count selection the foal which would be right here quickly) horses from a methamphetamine addict - he needed $1000 for 2 of them. I have been given 3 for $250.

contact a few vets and see if one of them might be willing to do some work for free or at least for a cheaper price. maybe try to get in touch with some students in their final years of school or a vet tech that might be able to offer some help. You could also try a local feed mill and see if they will help or maybe put up some posters to help you.

I'd contact your local news station or paper and see if they'll do a little segment on your rescue and help get the word out about your need. They're probably the best bet. Good Luck and thanks for saving him!

i think that you could use like go to thrifty foods or do a bake sale and or garge sale
