i started a hardcore punk rock band, although we are trying to include a few blues and metal influences. i am the lead singer. i tend to break tone after an alto, so my vocals will be fairly deep. i also play rythmn guitar, basically power chords and a few riffs. my best friend has a much better singing voice, but is also alot less cool in front of crowds and is higher-pitched. he can play Bass tabs on my old electric bass guitar, and he picks with his thumb. another one of my friends has been taking guitar lessons for a while and can play some solos and stuff. i guess he is lead guitar. we have a few people who might be able to play drums. we also know a guy who's brother is selling a drum kit. we all go to a college prep high-school, except i am a day student and they are boarders. they come to my house to practice every thursday night. right now we are learning black flag's "nervous breakdown" i need tons of advice on equipment: we all have black fender guitars, and one 50 watt amp.

our songs aren't going to be about high school. we emulate bands like Rise Against, Bad Religion, UnderOATH, dropkick murphys, Lagwagon, Ant-flag, Green Day and such. we are political, anti-conformist, and sometimes emotional. any advice?

we aren't posers. i could put lyrics up here, but then someone would steal them, so i won't. we are very original. we have anger and talent. answers some 12-year-olds question about gayass MCR if you want to hate.

Nervous Breakdown is one of the best B.F. songs ever! You should check out a band called minor threat if you are into hardcore!
My advice is to just practise... I know that is unoriginal, but it is true

Learn to play before you call yourselves a band. You need a drummer, and a full time bass player and a PA. You need experience, and yeah, the whole political thing is silly, you're in high school, you don't have a lot of political knowledge. Listening to Greenday, Bad Religion and Rage doesn't make you a political activist.

I'm not hating on you, just giving advise. I've been doing this since I was 10 (I'm 27 now). I dropped out of the 5th grade to play music with Jelly Jam Jar Johnson. I'm in a Punk band now, but you are being very childish. Learn to take some constructive criticism. Being angry all the time doens't make you hard core. So settle down and take your riddling.

I tried to answer your question earlier, but I think you had it deleted. Why, it was a serious answer, I am a singer, too.

Old classic punk would be great. I listed all the bands before but. . .sigh. . . The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, The Clash, Black Flag, The New York Dolls. . .there are several more.

Heck, people are trying to help you, and you give us thumbs down, what's up?

Yeah, don't pretend to be political. It sounds like you're a bunch of posers. Sounds like you're jumping a head way too much. Lean to play well before you become a band.
