The other night I was out with my friend. He was REALLY drunk and a woman walked by and he made some horrible comments about how fat she was. Stuff like " Man, I wonder if she can fit through the door". I was horrible. I am rather fat and it hurt me that he would say something like that. I mentioned it and his excuse was that the woman was no where near as fat as me, I actually think she was thinner than me. He got pissy because he thinks I was trying to pick a fight and he thinks I have BDD anyways. Even if he's right and I am not as fat as that woman, am I wrong to be offended by that. I was really hurt becasue I keep thinking that's what people must say about me when I go out and what would he do if someone said that about me? Would he just laugh right along with them?

I HAVE BEEN EXACTLY IN YOUR SHOES AND IT HURTS AND PISSES ME OFF, BUT I REALLY DONT THINK MY FRIEND EVEN REALIZES THAT IT OFFENDS ME. MEN CAN BE SO INSENSITIVE.

Your friend is a jerk. You shouldn't say mean things about ANYONE, even if they can't hear you. It doesn't matter who else is listening, it's still wrong.
I'm a skinny white girl with no religion, and I still jump in and tell people off if they make a rude or judgemental comment based on race, gender, weight, religion, whatever.
Stand up for what's right! Dump this loser friend, or tell him he shouldn't be so mean and hateful all the time.

doesn't sound like much of a friend to begin with. Those kind of comments hurt whether they are directed at you or someone else. That is just showing his true colors and how truly devoid they are of decency.

You are not wrong to be offended. Tell him that you were not trying to pick a fight but that you were appauled by his insensitivity.
