Does a person who earned a pension from a CA corp have to pay state taxes on it if residing in another state?

If the state in which you reside has personal income tax you would be taxed on that pension based on the rules of that state. Some states with personal income tax do not tax pension income.

Yes, that's why a lot of people retire to a state that either doesn't tax retirement earnings such as PA or to a state that doesn't have an income tax such as FL.

You pay the taxes in what ever state you have residence.
