I don't think the founder of Sony was Hubert Mantel but Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita .Ibuka set up the "Tokyo Tsushin Kenkyujo"(Totsuken), or "Tokyo Telecommunications Research Institute." In 1958 they adopted "Sony" as its corporate name.Although the company states that they were founded on May 7, 1946.
