Many fans expect Brawl to have up to 50 characters(which includes secret characters), which is highly likely since Melee had 2x then the orignal smash bros. Expect most to all characters from Melee to return to Brawl. Brawl characters will also have supermoves (somewhat like streetfighter/dragonball) that cause massive damage, and expect much more items and stages(including classic ones from smash bros and melee) as well. The classic controller/gamecube controller will be used mainly because Brawl developers say that they don't want to break the "tradition" and using wiimote for fast action fighting might get in the way.
There are rumors that suggest that Sonic is highly likely to be in the game as developers of Brawl and Sega are discussing it. Also since the release of Solid Snake (1st 3rd party character in the smash bros series) it opens up a gate of other 3rd party characters being possibly in the game as well (1st party nintendo mascots and multi-platform characters only. So no Master Chief, etc!)
For now, the release date is unknown but is suggested to be released somewhere around next year 2007.
*GOOD NEWS~ Ign.com and the japanese version of smashbros.com just recently released that they will show a NEW trailer with in game footage with possibly new characters showing as well starting off this Friday November 3,2006 when the Nintendo World Tour in Japan kicks off!!! They may also release the date that Brawl comes out too! who knows.. stay tuned at ign.com and nintendo.com over the weekend for more details!

its released in 2007 it has snake(metal gear solid), wario, pit, zero suit samus, and metaknight. and it has around 5 or so new arenas and the all powerfull BOX item from metal gear solid. also snake will not use any real guns only, and this is a rumor, a stinger for his move that boosts him upward. and thats not enough close to everything but i dont want to write the rest.

There is not much released about this game yet, but I can tell you that a new trailer will be on ign.com on saturday.

from what i know metal gears's solid snake will be in itand it'll probably be released next year not sure when though.
